Number of individual investment accounts exceeds 6 million
As of the end of 2023, the number of individual investment accounts (IIAs) increased by 15%. The attractiveness of brokerage IIAs continues to grow. Contrastingly, the number of trust management accounts has been decreasing for two years in a row as clients have been withdrawing funds from large-scale standard strategies amid higher yields on other financial instruments.
Traditionally, the main inflow of new IIAs was recorded in Q4. However, this did not boost the amount of funds in the accounts. Non-bank financial institutions’ statements show that, as of the end of Q4, the proportion of empty brokerage IIAs was 71%, and 6% of accounts had balances not exceeding ₽10,000.
The average amount of brokerage accounts grew from ₽74,000 to ₽83,000, while that of trust management accounts decreased from ₽210,000 to ₽205,000.
