Financial literacy: Bank of Russia launches autumn session of online training

1 September 2022
News

First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia Vladimir Chistyukhin is to launch the regular session of financial literacy training for schools and colleges with a class titled ‘How does the financial market work?’. The class is scheduled for 14 September 9.30 Moscow time. High school pupils and students of vocational schools and colleges may join the class online.

The classes (webinars) will be held until 16 December 2022. For the first time, the session will include classes on the history of money prepared together with the Bank of Russia Museum. Students will also learn how to properly manage, save and invest, insure and protect their personal finances from fraud. Experts will tell the students what to do if a financial organisation violated their rights.

The number of morning sessions that can be joined by pupils in the Far East and Siberia will significantly increase. Thus, it will be easier for teachers to include online classes in the schedule. This is especially important in the new academic year as some financial literacy topics are now part of the compulsory curriculum subjects.

Information on how to connect to and the schedule of online classes is available on the project website.

The Bank of Russia has been conducting online financial literacy training since 2015. The classes are broadcast live for 8–11 grade schoolchildren and students of vocational schools and colleges across Russia. They can join the webinars both individually and as a group or class.

The previous online training session in spring 2022 collected over 2.5 million views.
