Spring session of online financial literacy training collects over 2.5 million views
Personal finance was the most popular topic of the training with over 1 million views. Schoolchildren were told about the principles of income and expense management, signs of fraudulent schemes, inflation and setting of financial goals. The top 10 topics also included insurance, cyber security, entrepreneurship, taxes, and investment.
Almost half of schools joined the training in Russia nationwide, and in Tatarstan, Kabardino-Balkaria, in the Volgograd, Ryazan, and Kursk Regions all schools participated in it.
The Bank of Russia has been conducting online financial literacy training since 2015. The next session will start in September.
‘From the beginning of the next academic year, financial literacy topics will be included in several school subjects, and our online courses can be a good addition to studying the educational programme. It is important to note that they allow schoolchildren to address questions to financial market specialists live,’ said Mikhail Mamuta, Head of the Service for Consumer Protection and Financial Inclusion of the Bank of Russia.
Schoolchildren can reinforce their knowledge during their holidays by playing financial literacy games. For the organisers of children’s recreation, the Bank of Russia holds special webinars on the methodology for playing these games.
