Bank of Russia issues coins dedicated to Ivan Kozhedub, the 100th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Republic of Adygeya, and the 450th Anniversary of the Battle of Molodi

On 15 June 2022, the Bank of Russia issues the following commemorative silver coins:

— a 2-ruble coin ‘I.N. Kozhedub’ of the series Heroes of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945;

— a 3-ruble coin ‘The 100th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Republic of Adygeya’;

— a 3-ruble coin ‘The 450th Anniversary of the Battle of Molodi’ of the series Historical Events.

Silver coins in the denomination of 2 rubles (fine metal content 15.55 g, fineness 925/1,000) and 3 rubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1,000) have a round shape and are 33.0 mm and 39.0 mm in diameter, respectively.

The obverse and the reverse of the coins have a relief rim along the circumference.

The obverse of the coins bears a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the inscriptions: ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coins: ‘2 РУБЛЯ’ (2 RUBLES), ‘3 РУБЛЯ’ (3 RUBLES), the year of issue: ‘2022 г.’ (2022), the chemical symbol of the metal according to Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Elements, fineness, a mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse:

— of the coin ‘I.N. Kozhedub’ (Catalogue No. 5110-0171) features relief images of the portrait of the thrice Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan N. Kozhedub and Gold Star medals against the background of silhouettes of flying aeroplanes and stylised images of vapour trails in the sky, laser treated for matte finishing; at the bottom, there is a relief inscription: ‘И.Н. КОЖЕДУБ’ (I.N. KOZHEDUB).

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs;

— of the coin ‘The 100th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Republic of Adygeya’ (Catalogue No. 5111-0463) features a relief image, as well as images laser treated for matte finishing, of compositional elements of the emblem of the Republic of Adygeya; below along the rim, there are inscriptions: ‘РЕСПУБЛИКА АДЫГЕЯ’ (REPUBLIC OF ADYGEYA), in two lines on the right: ‘100 ЛЕТ’ (100 YEARS).

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs.

— of the coin ‘The 450th Anniversary of the Battle of Molodi’ (Catalogue No. 5111-0464) features a relief image of Russian army commanders Dukes Mikhail Vorotynsky and Dmitry Khvorostinin with allegories of glory, loyalty to the tsar and victory over the enemy, as well as a relief image of warriors with weapons and a waving banner, and images of a mobile fortification ‘gulyay-gorod’ (literally: ‘wandering town’) and galloping horsemen, laser treated for matte finishing; there are relief inscriptions — on the left along the circumference: ‘БИТВА ПРИ МОЛОДЯХ’ (BATTLE OF MOLODI), on the bottom right in a stylised framing: ‘1572’.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs.

The new coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation and are mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
