Bank of Russia to use banks’ credit ratings in liquidity-providing operations in domestic market

The Bank of Russia has decided to use since 2022 the credit ratings of banks — counterparties of the Bank of Russia in the course of liquidity-providing operations in the domestic market, instead of information on the classification groups of credit institutions.1

Since 1 January 2022, the Bank of Russia will carry out repos and issue secured loans to credit institutions provided they have the minimum credit rating required, including at a level of at least B-(RU) assigned by Analytical Credit Rating Agency (JSC) or ruB- assigned by JSC Expert RA, regardless of banks’ classification groups.
