On 8 September 2025, the Bank of Russia issues a 3-ruble silver commemorative coin ‘The 150th Anniversary of Tennis in Russia’ (Catalogue No. 5111-0529).

Sergey, a son of Emperor Alexander II, made an entry in his diary on 12 June 1875 that he had played tennis with his brothers on the lawn of the Alexander Park in Tsarskoe Selo. That was the first record of playing tennis in Russia.

The 3-ruble silver coin (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1,000) has a round shape and is 39.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and the reverse of the coin have a relief rim around the circumference.

The obverse of the coin features a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, the inscriptions ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) and ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin ‘3 РУБЛЯ’ (3 RUBLES), the year of issue ‘2025 г.’ (2025), the chemical symbol of the metal according to Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Elements, fineness, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse of the coin ‘The 150th Anniversary of Tennis in Russia’ features a relief image of two crossed tennis rackets and a gilded relief image of a tennis ball against the background of an image of a tennis net, laser treated for matte finishing, and the inscriptions ‘ТЕННИС В РОССИИ’ (TENNIS IN RUSSIA) around the upper circumference and ‘150 ЛЕТ’ (150 YEARS) in two lines at the bottom right.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3,000 pcs.

The new coin is legal tender of the Russian Federation and is mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at its face value.
