The animated film ‘Antoshka’ from the first issue of the legendary animated film series ‘Happy Merry-Go-Round’ was released in 1969. This was Leonid Nosyrev’s directorial debut. The main character of this film is the red-headed freckled boy from a song written by poet Yuri Entin and composer Vladimir Shainsky. Today, this film series includes 150 animated films that were created by nearly 200 directors.

On 15 November 2022, the Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins ‘Happy Merry-Go-Round No. 1’ of the Russian (Soviet) Animation series:

— a 3-ruble silver coin,

— a 25-ruble base metal coin, and

— a 25-ruble base metal coin with coloured coating.

Description of the precious metal coin:

The 3-ruble silver coin (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1,000) has a round shape and is 39.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and the reverse of the coin have a relief rim around the circumference.

The obverse of the coin features a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the inscriptions ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) and ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin denomination ‘3 РУБЛЯ’ (3 RUBLES), the year of issue ‘2022 г.’ (2022), the chemical symbol of the metal according to Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Elements, fineness, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse of the coin (Catalogue No. 5111-0476) features a coloured image of a scene from the animated film series ‘Happy Merry-Go-Round No. 1’ and the relief inscription ‘HAPPY MERRY-GO-ROUND NO. 1’ on the upper left.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 7.0 thousand pcs.

The 25-ruble base metal coins have a round shape and are 27.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and reverse sides of the coins have a relief rim around the circumference.

The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse of the coins features a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, the inscription above it around the upper circumference ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed with paired diamonds on both sides, the Moscow Mint trademark on the right, and the three-line inscription in the centre of the coins under the National Coat of Arms: ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin denomination ‘25 РУБЛЕЙ’ (25 RUBLES), and the year of issue ‘2022 г.’ (2022).

The reverse of:

— the coin (Catalogue No. 5015-0067) features a relief image of a scene from the animated film series ‘Happy Merry-Go-Round No. 1’ and the relief inscription ‘HAPPY MERRY-GO-ROUND NO. 1’ on the upper left;

— the coin (Catalogue No. 5015-0068) features a coloured image of a scene from the animated film series ‘Happy Merry-Go-Round No. 1’ and the relief inscription ‘HAPPY MERRY-GO-ROUND NO. 1’ on the upper left.

The mintage of:

— the 25-ruble coins — 850.0 thousand pcs;

— the 25-ruble coin with coloured coating — 150.0 thousand pcs.

The new coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation and are mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
