29 September 2014
Press release

From 29 September to 3 October 2014, the Bank of Russia is running a set of events within ‘A Week of Financial Awareness in Crimea’ project.

Within the project the citizens of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol will be able to familiarise themselves with the basics of Russian legislation that governs the market of financial services, learn about the most popular products as well as the risks arising from investing in various financial instruments.

The events will take place in Simferopol, Kerch, Feodosia, Yalta and Sevastopol. Each city will host business games to involve school pupils, master classes for students, seminars for work collectives, and tagups with representatives of small and medium businesses.

The project will be joined by lecturers from Moscow and other Russian regions including Bank of Russia employees, representatives of self-regulatory organisations, professional participants of the financial market and independent experts — 40 people overall. The classes in schools will be held by professional trainers with a vast experience in organising business economic games for children.

“Protection of the rights of financial services consumers is inseparable from the activity to enhance financial awareness. In today’s world, financial services and technologies are in a never-ending process of development and improvement. Our task is to explain to the customers the gist of financial services to let them make weighted and reasonable financial decisions. That is why we need to promote the programs aimed at enhancing financial awareness of the population”, Ilya Kochetkov, the head of Bank of Russia Service for Protection of Financial Services Consumers and Minority Shareholders, says.
