Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins of precious and base metals

On 29 April 2020, the Bank of Russia will issue the following commemorative coins:

— a silver 1-ruble coin ‘The Moscow Metro’;

— a silver 3-ruble coin ‘100th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Republic of Tatarstan’;

— a silver 3-ruble and a base metal 25-ruble coins (incl. with a coloured coating) ‘The Barkers’ of the Russian (Soviet) Animation series.

Description of the precious metal coins:

The silver 1-ruble coin (fine metal content 7.78 g, fineness 925) and 3-ruble coins (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925) have a round shape and are 25.0 mm and 39.0 mm in diameter respectively.

The obverse and the reverse of the coins have a relief rim along the circumference.

The obverse of the coins bears a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and inscriptions: ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coins ‘1 РУБЛЬ’ (1 RUBLE) and ‘3 РУБЛЯ’ (3 RUBLES), the year of issue ‘2020 г.’ (2020), the chemical symbol of the metal according to Mendeleyev’s Periodic Table of Elements, fineness, the St. Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse:

— of the 1-ruble coin ‘The Moscow Metro’ (Catalogue No. 5109–0128) features a relief image of the emblem of the Moscow Metro; along the circumference there is an inscription: ‘МОСКОВСКИЙ МЕТРОПОЛИТЕН’ (THE MOSCOW METRO).

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs;

— of the 3-ruble coin ‘The Centenary of the Foundation of the Republic of Tatarstan’ (Catalogue No. 5111–0419) features a relief image of young people in traditional Tatar costumes performing a national dance; a view of the Kazan Kremlin; the coat of arms of the Republic, laser treated for matte finishing, at the top; and the inscriptions: ‘100 ЛЕТ’ (100 YEARS) in two lines on the left, and ‘РЕСПУБЛИКА ТАТАРСТАН’ (THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN) at the bottom along the circumference.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs;

— of the 3-ruble coin ‘The Barkers’ (Catalogue No. 5111–0420) features a coloured figure of Max, the main character of the cartoon; and an inscription ‘БАРБОСКИНЫ’ (THE BARKERS) at the top.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 7.0 thousand pcs.

Description of the base metal coins:

The base metal 25-ruble coins ‘The Barkers’ have a round shape and are 27.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and reverse sides of the coins have a relief rim around the circumference.

The edges of the coins are corrugated.

The obverse of the coins features a relief image of the national emblem of the Russian Federation; an inscription above it along the upper circumference ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed with paired rhombuses on both sides, the Moscow Mint trademark on the right, and in the centre under the national emblem, in three lines, an inscription ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin denomination ‘25 РУБЛЕЙ’ (25 RUBLES), and the year of issue ‘2020 г.’ (2020).

The reverse:

— of the coin ‘The Barkers’ (Catalogue No. 5015–0052) features a relief image of Max, the main character of the cartoon; and an inscription ‘БАРБОСКИНЫ’ (THE BARKERS) at the top;

— of the coin ‘The Barkers’ with a coloured coating (Catalogue No. 5015–0053) features a coloured figure of Max, the main character of the cartoon; and the inscription ‘БАРБОСКИНЫ’ (THE BARKERS) at the top.

The mintage of:

— the 25-ruble coins is 850.0 thousand pcs;

— the 25-ruble coins with a coloured coating is 150.0 thousand pcs.

The new coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation and are mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
