On issuing of commemorative coins of precious metals

On September 19, 2014 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of precious metals of the Historical series: «The 700th Birthday Anniversary of Reverend Sergius of Radonezh»:

•  a silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (catalogue number 5111-0284) and a silver proof-like coin in denomination of 100 Roubles (catalogue number 5117-0060) and

•  a gold proof coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (catalogue number 5216-0104) and a gold proof-like coin in denomination of 10000 Roubles (catalogue number 5221-0028).

A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage 7500 pcs), a silver proof-like coin in denomination of 100 Roubles (fine metal content 1000.0g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 100.0 mm, mintage 300 pcs), a gold proof coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (fine metal content 7.78g, fineness 999/1000, diameter 22.6 mm, mintage 1500 pcs) and a gold proof-like coin in denomination of 10000 Roubles (fine metal content 1000.0g, fineness 999/1000, diameter 100.0 mm, mintage 100pcs) have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference.

The obverse: the relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia — the two-headed eagle with wings down, and the semicircular inscription under it «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed with a circle of beads. The inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coins «ТРИ РУБЛЯ» (THREE ROUBLES) «СТО РУБЛЕЙ» (ONE HUNDRED ROUBLES) «ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ» (FIFTY ROUBLES) «ДЕСЯТЬ ТЫСЯЧ РУБЛЕЙ» (ONE THOUSAND ROUBLES) respectively and the year of issue «2014», between them — the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint-Petersburg Mint and the fine metal content. The original number sign of the coin «№ ____» is indicated on the lower part of the obverse side of the coin in denomination of 10000 Roubles.

The reverse side:

•  of the silver coin in denomination of 3 Roubles depicts the relief image of the fragment of the painting by V.A. Chelyshev «Sergius of Radonezh blessing Dmitry Donskoy». The inscription at the top along the circumference says «СЕРГИЙ РАДОНЕЖСКИЙ•700 ЛЕТ» (SERGIUS OF RADONEZH•700 YEARS);

•  of the silver coin in denomination of 100 Roubles depicts the relief image of the fragment of the painting by M.V. Nesterov «The vision of the Youth Bartholomew». The inscription at the top along the circumference says «СЕРГИЙ РАДОНЕЖСКИЙ•700 ЛЕТ» (SERGIUS OF RADONEZH•700 YEARS);

•  of the gold coin in denomination of 50 Roubles depicts the relief image of the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity Sergius Lavra in the town of Sergiev Posad, Moscow region. The inscription at the top framed by a stylized pattern says «СЕРГИЙ РАДОНЕЖСКИЙ•700 ЛЕТ» (SERGIUS OF RADONEZH•700 YEARS);

•  of the gold coin in denomination of 10000 Roubles depicts the relief images of the monument to Sergius of Radonezh by the sculptor V.A. Chukharkin against the background of the Trinity Sergius Lavra and the monks. The inscription at the top along the circumference says «СЕРГИЙ РАДОНЕЖСКИЙ 700 ЛЕТ» (SERGIUS OF RADONEZH 700 YEARS).

The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
