On the meeting of the Interbank Currency Council of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus

On 20 May 2016, the meeting of the Interbank Currency Council of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, held in the city Mogilev, considered topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

Attending the meeting were Elvira Nabiullina, the Bank of Russia Governor, Pavel Kallaur, the Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, and representatives of the central banks of the two countries.

The Council discussed the current economic environment and monetary policy in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. The parties also exchanged information on the international reserves and FX liquidity dynamics, as well as implementation of recommendations of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.

Besides, meeting participants summed up the operations of the Russian and Byelorussian banking systems in 2015 and reviewed the main indicators of the bilateral balance of payments of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation and the balance of payments of the Union State for 2015.
