Bank of Russia Joined the Maya Declaration

At the annual Global Policy Forum of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion Bank of Russia supported the Maya Declaration which highlights financial inclusion priorities and main policy directions of AFI members.

At the GPF Mr. Vladimir Chistyukhin, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, announced the Bank of Russia financial inclusion priorities. These included the implementation of such innovative approaches to consumer financial protection as widespread adoption of responsible lending conduct and the creation of Financial Ombudsman Service.

Bank of Russia will also implement financial inclusion evaluation system and indicators developed under the recommendations of G20 and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. A particular attention will be paid to financial literacy programs for the population and micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs.

The Alliance for Financial Inclusion is a global network of financial policymakers and regulators from 95 developing countries working together to increase access to financial services. Bank of Russia joined the Alliance for Financial Inclusion in February, 2014.
