Statistics Department Director Ekaterina Prokunina retires

On 30 December 2021, Statistics Department Director Ekaterina Prokunina retires from the Bank of Russia.

Beginning on 31 December 2021, Statistics Department Deputy Director Galina Vasilyeva will be the Acting Director of the Department.

First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia Ksenia Yudaeva said: ‘Ekaterina Prokunina is an exceptionally qualified and experienced specialist. She joined the Bank of Russia in the middle of the 1990s and actually was among those who were promoting the development of financial statistics in Russia. The establishment of the modern financial statistics system, the improved quality and international comparability of statistics, the use of the advantages of new data sources, and the expansion of opportunities for users to analyse released data — all these achievements are largely owing to Ekaterina Prokunina and the Department she headed.’
