Bank of Russia to evaluate Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process and capital adequacy assessments for credit institutions and banking groups in 2018

This year, the Bank of Russia will carry out an evaluation of the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and capital adequacy assessments for credit institutions and banking groups of which the parent credit institutions’ assets total at least 500 billion rubles.

The Bank of Russia will carry out this evaluation in accordance with Bank of Russia Ordinance No. 3883-U, dated 7 December 2015, ‘On the Procedure for the Bank of Russia to Assess the Quality of Risk and Capital Management Systems, and Capital Adequacy of a Credit Institution or a Banking Group’. To enable the Bank of Russia to conduct this assessment, credit institutions (the banking group’s parent credit institution) will need to provide to the Bank of Russia information on ICAAP arrangements in place at the credit institution (banking group) and the accomplishments of these arrangements.

A regulatory act to establish requirements for the components of this information and a procedure for its submission is due in 2018 Q3.

The Bank of Russia will carry out an evaluation of the ICAAP and capital adequacy assessments for credit institutions and banking groups of which the parent credit institutions’ assets total at least 500 billion rubles within 2018 Q4.
