Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins of base metals

On 12 October 2020, the Bank of Russia issues the following commemorative coins of base metals:

— a coin in denomination of 25 rubles ‘A commemorative coin dedicated to selfless labour of health workers’;

— a coin in denomination of 10 rubles ‘Transport Worker’ of the Man of Labour series.

The 25-ruble coin has a round shape and is 27.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and reverse sides of the coin have a relief rim along the circumference.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse of the coin features a relief image of the national emblem of the Russian Federation and a semicircular inscription along the rim ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (‘RUSSIAN FEDERATION’) framed with paired diamonds on both sides; to the right there is the Moscow mint trade mark; at the bottom under the national emblem there is a centered three-line inscription ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (‘BANK OF RUSSIA’), the coin denomination ’25 РУБЛЕЙ’ (25 RUBLES) and the year of issue ‘2020 г.’ (2020).

The reverse of the coin (Catalogue No. 5015-0054) depicts two medical workers — a man and a woman — in protective suits, holding paramedic boxes, against the background of a hospital and an ambulance.

The mintage of the coin is 5.0 million pcs.

The 10-ruble coin has a round shape and is 22.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and reverse sides of the coin have a relief rim along the circumference.

The edge of the coin is intermittently corrugated and has alternating sections with different numbers of ridges thereon.

The obverse of the coin features the inscriptions around the circumference: ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA) at the top and ‘2020’ at the bottom. There are images of branches of the bay tree and oak tree on the left and right respectively. The number ‘10’ and the inscription ‘РУБЛЕЙ’ (RUBLES) below, denoting the face value of the coin, are in the centre. The digit ‘0’ features a security element inside in the form of the figure ‘10’ and the inscription ‘РУБ’ (RUB) visible at various viewing angles to the coin surface. The Moscow Mint trademark is at the bottom.

The reverse of the coin (Catalogue No. 5714-0071) bears an image of a transport worker against the background of various types of transport, with a medium emblem of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation on the sleeve of his uniform shirt; along the top rim there is an inscription ‘ЧЕЛОВЕК ТРУДА’ (MAN OF LABOUR).

The mintage of the coin is 1.0 million pcs.

The new coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation and their acceptance for all kinds of payments at their face value is mandatory, without any restrictions.
