MasterCard assessment results

The Bank of Russia has completed the assessment of the MasterCard payment system (MasterCard PS) for compliance with the international Principles for Financial Market Infrastructures (PFMI). The assessment confirmed a high level of its compliance with the PFMI.

This proves that the payment system operator implemented the legally stipulated aspects of the PS functioning and disclosed relevant information in its documents, deployed a reliable comprehensive risk management system, and ensured equal access to settlement services offered by the MasterCard PS to all its participants.

The PFMI is a set of standards developed for important payment systems by the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures of the Bank for International Settlements jointly with the International Organization of Securities Commissions. The Bank of Russia carries out the assessment of important payment systems for their compliance with the PFMI every three years.
