The External and Public Relations Department of the Bank of Russia announces that the monetary base (narrow definition) equalled 2732.7 bn. rubles as of September 25, 2006, against 2720.7 bn. rubles as of September 18, 2006.
The monetary base (narrow definition) consists of the currency issued by the Bank of Russia (including cash in vaults of credit institutions) and required reserves balances on ruble deposits with the Bank of Russia.
