On the 22nd Russian-Indian Subgroup on Banking and Financial Issues

The Russian-Indian Subgroup on Banking and Financial Issues sat for its 22^nd meeting in Saint Petersburg on 4-6 July 2016. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Bank of Russia, the Reserve Bank of India, Russian and Indian commercial banks, and export promotion institutions.

During the meeting the parties discussed problems and perspectives of interbank cooperation, prospects for expanding the use of national currencies in mutual payments.

The discussion resulted in agreements on further joint actions to promote bilateral payments in national currencies, on the deepening cooperation among commercial banks of the two countries, as well as on the expansion of the subgroup agenda through additional issues of bilateral cooperation in insurance.
