The Governor of the Bank of Russia meets the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran

Elvira Nabiullina, the Governor of the Bank of Russia, and Valiollah Seif, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, gave a positive assessment of the current cooperation in finance and banking during the talks held in Moscow on 28 March.

The parties highlighted the expanding use of national currencies in settlements under foreign trade contracts. In addition, the governors discussed the outlook for cooperation between national payment card systems, prospects for arranging RUB/IRR currency pair trading and cooperation in AML/CFT.

The heads of central banks emphasised the important role played by the Working Group on Cooperation in Finance and Banking of the Permanent Russian-Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. Its active engagement facilitates cooperation between commercial banks of the two countries.
