Bank of Russia issues new commemorative coins
The Bank of Russia issues two commemorative silver proof coins in denomination of 2 rubles. The first one marks the 250th anniversary of the writer Nikolay Karamzin’s birth, the second one — the 125th anniversary of the composer Sergey Prokofiev’s birth.
The reverse side of the first coin depicts relief images of Karamzin and volumes of the ‘History of the Russian State’. The second one bears an image of Prokofiev against the background of a piano lid and a stylised stave.
Both coins are issued as a part of the ‘Outstanding Personalities of Russia’ series with the mintage of 3000 pieces of each design.
Also, the series ‘Architectural Monuments of Russia’ features a commemorative silver proof coin in denomination of 3 rubles named ‘Stock Exchange Building, Saint Petersburg’. Its reverse side shows a relief image of the Stock Exchange building in Saint-Petersburg. The coin’s mintage is 3000 pieces.
