In 2026 Q2, microfinance organisations (MFOs) issued microloans amounting to ₽490 billion, while consumer lending continued to decline.
Companies raised the proportion of medium- and long-term consumer microloans to retain higher-quality borrowers. Contrastingly, the amount of short-term microloans still decreased due to requirements for verifying borrowers’ income and the upcoming imposition of a limit on the number of simultaneously outstanding expensive microloans per borrower. However, MFOs increased the provision of microloans with a credit limit (similar to credit cards), which allowed them to retain customers for longer.
More details are available in the publication Review of Key Indicators of Microfinance Institutions for 2026 Q2.
