Countering fraudulent transfers: 2026 Q2 results
Over 2026 Q2, banks blocked 17.5 million attempts to steal customer funds totalling almost ₽1.9 trillion. Compared to 2026 Q1, both the number and amount of prevented fraudulent transactions increased by more than 4%, as specified in the Review of Reporting on Information Security Incidents Related to Funds Transfers.
In April–June, the number of fraudulent transactions decreased by 7.5% QoQ to 458,700. Bank customers’ total losses edged down to less than ₽7.4 billion. However, banks recorded a persistent onslaught of attacks on legal entities, with the proportion of funds stolen from them in total losses rising from 7.8% in 2026 Q1 to 11.3% in 2026 Q2.
In 2026 Q2, the share of funds reimbursed by banks to their customers affected by fraud went up to 7% (₽514.6 million).
During this period, the Bank of Russia initiated the blocking of 4,600 fraudulent websites and social media pages and reported 7,800 telephone numbers used by fraudsters to communication providers.
