Alexei Mozhin passes away

On 3 June 2026, shortly before his 70th anniversary, Alexei Mozhin, a prominent statesman, died.
He joined the Bank of Russia as Adviser to the Governor in December 2024. However, both in Russia and abroad, he was primarily known as a permanent representative of the Russian Federation at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He held that post for 32 years from 1992 to 2024, also being the dean of the IMF Executive Board.
Alexei Mozhin made a notable contribution to the implementation of a number of initiatives, important for Russia, at international venues. He received state awards.
The Bank of Russia’s management expresses condolences to Mr Mozhin’s relatives and friends.
