Price growth decelerates in most regions in April
In April, prices in 72 out of the 85 Russian regions rose at a slower pace on average or even declined month on month.
Products became cheaper in 51 regions. Prices for greenhouse vegetables dropped as their production costs typically decrease in spring. Dairy butter and cheese continued cheapening. Prices for non-food goods demonstrated a moderate increase in most regions.
Services became significantly more expensive, which was attributable to high demand for some of them, namely for personal, medical, and health resort services. Contrastingly, foreign tourism prices fell as they partly depend on the exchange rate.
Annual inflation slowed down in the overwhelming majority of the Russian regions. The Bank of Russia will continue to pursue tight monetary policy aimed at bringing inflation down to 4%.
