Talking Trends: moderate economic activity in early 2026

Economic activity was moderate in 2026 Q1, which was partly associated with enterprises’ and households’ adaptation to tax modifications. Nevertheless, February statistics suggest that the decline in demand at the beginning of the year is likely only temporary.
The price growth rate decreased in February–March 2026, but despite weaker consumer activity, stayed elevated. To bring inflation back to the target sustainably, monetary conditions should remain tight.
