One counterfeit per one million banknotes

High-denomination banknotes remain the prime target for counterfeiters, with 5,000- and 1,000-ruble banknotes accounting for 62% and 31% of total fakes, respectively. Most of the counterfeits were detected in the Central, Southern, and North-Western Federal Districts.

Contrastingly, the number of counterfeit foreign banknotes increased by 44% to 2,703 (driven primarily by counterfeit US dollars).
