News

A typical chief executive officer (CEO) of a financial institution is a 50-year-old man with a university degree who has been holding his position for five years on average. The Bank of Russia compiled this profile based on data on CEOs (the sole executive bodies) of credit institutions and insurance companies, non-governmental pension funds as well as microfinance and management companies.

Men account for two-thirds of all CEOs, while the share of women has edged up over recent years. Most CEOs have a university degree in economics. Those with a degree in IT represent a minority. Almost 20% of CEOs hold shares / stakes in the organisations they head.

More details are available in the material Profile of Financial Institution CEO.
