Operators of socially important card payment systems: new information security requirements

The Bank of Russia has published a document on the requirements for the hardware and software of devices used in socially important card payment systems. These include hardware security modules (HSMs) built in the information infrastructure of payment systems, payment devices with a kernel, ATMs, and payment cards.
The requirements establish relevant parameters for developers of such systems and will replace the approaches in place since 2020. They factor in the regulator’s new measures to ensure data protection in money transfers and are aimed at increasing the efficiency of import substitution processes.
