Coins weighing 250 tonnes return to circulation: Coin Week results
More than 56 million coins worth ₽245 million returned to circulation as a result of the Coin Week that completed in October 2025. This is the best result since 2023 when the first Coin Week took place.
People returned to circulation more than 215 million coins worth nearly ₽956 million in total during the five events. Returned coins weigh over 962 tonnes, which is almost as many as a Moscow-based cash centre of the Bank of Russia issues to banks annually.
Even after the Coin Week is over, some banks and shops continue to accept coins to have them exchanged for banknotes or to credit them to an account. The addresses of the participants and coins acceptance terms are published here монетнаянеделя.рф.
Please note that one should not wait for a special occasion to return coins to circulation, as it is possible to use them to pay for goods and services.
