People may connect ‘confirming hand’ service to protect themselves from fraudsters
From 1 September 2025, people will have a new opportunity to protect themselves and their family members from fraudsters. Control over banking operations may now be entrusted to a relative or a friend who will have the right to confirm or reject fund transfers if they seem suspicious. However, the authorised person will not have access to the account and the right to conduct transactions independently.
This measure will protect the most vulnerable people, primarily the aged, from fraudsters, and tighten parental control over fund transfers of teenagers who often find themselves involved in droppers’ schemes without a clear understanding of negative consequences.
Twelve hours are given from the moment of notification to confirm or reject a transaction. Only the client may initiate the connection of the service. Each bank decides on the way of connecting the service independently. If the client rejects the service, the bank will be obliged to disconnect it within 24 hours. This cooling-off period will reduce the risk of disconnecting the ‘confirming hand’ option under fraudsters’ influence.
The procedure applies to fund transfers, including those using bank cards, transfers via the Faster Payments System, and cash withdrawals.
