Countering fraudulent transactions: 2025 Q2 results
In April—June 2025, banks countered 38.7 million attempts to carry out fraudulent transactions, which was 1.5 times more than the averages over the previous four quarters. Credit institutions prevented thefts of customers’ funds totalling ₽3.4 trillion. This is stated in the Review of Reporting on Information Security Incidents Related to Funds Transfers.
In 2025 Q2, fraudsters conducted 273,100 fraudulent transactions worth ₽6.3 billion. The number of such transactions and the amount of damage decreased by 8.9% and 15.9%, respectively, compared to the averages over the last four quarters. Data on thefts come from applications submitted by scammers’ victims to banks.
The Bank of Russia has initiated the blocking of 20,200 phone numbers used by fraudsters, as well as 13,400 fraudulent websites and social media pages.
