Type 3 IIAs are becoming increasingly popular among brokerage clients
In January—March 2025, the growth rate of individual investment accounts (IIAs) opened under brokerage agreements decreased (82,000 vs 137,000 in 2024 Q4). Nevertheless, the number of type 3 IIAs is still considerably higher than in early 2024 when this instrument was just launched in the market and investors were exploring its benefits.
According to the largest market participants, the total number of type 3 IIAs reached nearly 866,000 (+198,000 over 2025 Q1). More than 90% of all type 3 IIAs are new ones, while the others were converted from type 1 and type 2 IIAs.
Although the inflow of funds into IIAs declined somewhat quarter on quarter, it remains at a high level. The portfolios in IIAs increased to ₽637 billion, which was driven by clients’ net contributions and positive securities revaluation. As reported by the largest companies, the value of assets in type 3 IIAs alone totalled ₽183 billion (+₽67 billion vs the previous quarter).
