Authorised frauds: 2025 Q1 results
In January—March 2025, banks prevented 43.8 million fraud attempts to steal money from customers, which is more than twice the average for the four quarters of 2024. Thus, banks succeeded in protecting ₽4.6 trillion of customers’ funds, according to the Review of Reporting on Information Security Incidents Related to Funds Transfers.
However, in 2025 Q1, malefactors managed to conduct 296,600 fraudulent transactions worth almost ₽6.9 billion, which is near the average for the past four quarters. Cybercriminals stole the largest amount of money through remote banking channels (e.g. online banking and transfers), including by using mobile malware.
The Bank of Russia initiated the blocking of 19,800 phone numbers used by malefactors, as well as 7,100 fraudulent websites and social media pages.
