Regional Economy report: consumer demand rises in most Russian regions over February
Consumer demand continued to grow in February 2025, largely driven by demand for services. Household demand for expensive non-food goods moderated.
Price growth rates as well as inflation expectations of households and businesses decreased but remained high.
The economy was growing overall but various industries showed different trends. Machine builders in the North West, the Volga Region, the Urals, and the South increased output as part of import substitution and public procurement. The cargo traffic at Far Eastern seaports, however, was pushed down by lower exports of oil and petroleum products.
More details are available in the March issue of the Regional Economy: Commentaries by Bank of Russia Main Branches report. The special topics of this issue are monetary conditions and credit and deposit markets as well as housing construction.
