Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade
On 9 January 2019, the Bank of Russia issues two commemorative coins of the series ‘75th Anniversary of the Full Liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi Blockade’: — a silver proof coin in denomination of 3 rubles and a coin of base metals in denomination of 25 rubles.
The reverse of a coin in denomination of 3 rubles depicts a relief image of the central part of the Monument to the Heroic Defenders of Leningrad on the Victory Square with the images of the Saint Isaac’s Cathedral and fireworks dedicated to the end of the siege in the background. The mintage of the coin is 3 thousand pcs.
The reverse of the coin in denomination of 25 rubles features an image of the Broken Ring Monument. The mintage of the coin is 5 million pcs.


The series ‘Outstanding Personalities of Russia’ will be complemented with a silver proof coin in denomination of 2 rubles ‘Writer V.V. Bianki — 125th Anniversary of his Birth (11.02.1894)’. The coin bears a portrait of Vitaly Bianki surrounded by characters of his stories with a forest in the background. The mintage of the coin is 3 thousand pcs.

The Bank of Russia also issues investment coins ‘Saint George the Victorious’: a silver proof coin in denomination of 3 rubles (mintage: up to 100 thousand pcs) and a gold proof coin in denomination of 50 rubles (mintage: up to 300 thousand pcs).
