Transfers and payments via SBP hit new highs: 2024 results
The number and amount of transactions performed via the Faster Payments System (SBP) in 2024 doubled year-on-year. According to the Bank of Russia data, over 13.4 billion transactions worth ₽69.5 trillion were carried out via the SBP in 2024.
The average daily number of SBP transactions was growing steadily from quarter to quarter. In 2024 Q4, 45 million transactions were performed every day, whereas a year before, the daily number of such transactions averaged 26 million.
Every fourth SBP transaction is a payment for goods and services. Demand for this type of payment was growing during the year. By late 2024, five out of ten Russians preferred to pay via the SBP.
Trade and service companies accepting payments via the SBP numbered around 2.2 million by early 2025.
In 2024, the number and amount of payments (including cashbacks) that individuals received from insurance companies, brokers, and other legal entities also increased. In total, individuals received from companies more than 200 million transfers worth over ₽1 trillion.
