Fraudsters attempt more attacks against Russians but succeed less: 2024 Q2 results
In April—June 2024, banks detected almost 257,000 fraudulent transactions, which is 14.9% less than the average over the previous four quarters.
The number of unauthorised transactions contracted as a result of a rise in the number of attacks prevented by banks. They repelled 16.3 million attempts made by fraudsters to steal clients’ money totalling ₽2.3 trillion. These figures are almost 1.5 times bigger than the averages for the previous period.
Nonetheless, fraudsters succeeded in stealing around ₽4.8 billion from retail and corporate accounts in 2024 Q2. The amount of losses is about 25% higher than the average for the previous four quarters.
