News

Pupils of grades 1–9 took part in the Olympiad held on the online platform Uchi.ru. Many participants completed their tasks successfully, including on topics included in the Olympiad for the first time.

Thus, 70% answered questions about shares and bonds correctly. Pupils discussed examples of what these financial instruments are and how they differ. 45% took part in the simulation game Eco-friendly City. Schoolchildren were learning to choose the most effective strategy for investing in green energy. As many as 43% scored the highest mark for the task of assessing the value of time and money based on practical examples.

The best results were achieved in simulating a dialogue with malefactors: 82% of pupils identified the fraudsters and properly responded to suspicious messages. The most difficult task was to distribute revenues and expenses when planning a family budget for several months ahead — only 32% were able to cope with it.

‘Elements of financial literacy are already included in educational programmes for all ages. The Olympiad is an important continuation of the educational process. Its advantage is in the format of a game: performing each task, pupils learn how to use funds efficiently. A non-standard approach, easy presentation and relevant topics make the project attractive. In four years, the number of participants has more than doubled. Furthermore, we see that not only the extent but also the level of knowledge are growing. Specifically, this year, almost four times more pupils, compared to 2023, successfully answered questions on such a complicated topic as insurance,’ said Mikhail Mamuta, Head of the Bank of Russia Service for Consumer Protection and Financial Inclusion.

Depending on the number of points scored, pupils received personal diplomas, commendations or certificates.

The Olympiad was organised by the Bank of Russia, the Russian Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economic Development, and the educational platform Uchi.ru in accordance with the tasks of the national project ‘Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Support for Individual Entrepreneurship Initiatives’.
