Monitoring sectoral financial flows: significant increase in receipts in December indicates stronger economic activity

In December, the amount of incoming payments made through the Bank of Russia payment system significantly rose against the previous month to exceed the average of 2022 Q3 by 11.0%.
All groups of industries recorded higher financial inflows, exceeding the usual seasonal growth in December. In particular, this can be due to a larger number of operations that might have been postponed. The main drivers of such growth were industries focused on investment and consumer demand.
