Annual inflation slows down in most Russian regions in October
Inflation decelerated over the month, which was associated with expanded supply of food products and weaker consumer activity.
The annual growth rate of food prices decreased in all federal districts, as compared to September. This was primarily owing to prices for fruit and vegetables and meat and dairy products that became cheaper owing to an increase in their supply.
As to non-food goods, the growth of prices for cars and electronics slowed down most significantly in all federal districts. This trend was mostly explained by a decline in households’ propensity to make expensive purchases amid elevated uncertainty.
The annual growth rate of service prices edged up in all federal districts, except the Southern FD. Prices for communication and foreign tourism services rose most notably.
