Inflation accelerates in all Russian regions in March
Annual inflation ranged from 7.2% in the Chukotka Autonomous Area to 21.7% in the Republic of Khakassia.
In March, price movements were mostly shaped by factors associated with external trade and financial restrictions: a weaker ruble, surging demand at the beginning of the month, and intensified logistical problems.
Inflation accelerated the least in the Far Eastern Federal District (FD). Due to the seasonal nature of goods supply and considerable stocks, the regions of this FD typically have higher price rigidity. Inflation increased the most in the Volga FD. In some of its regions, a decline in the supply of new cars produced the most serious impact on the market.
