Visa and MasterCard payment cards continue to operate as normal in Russia

All cards of the international payment systems Visa and MasterCard issued by Russian banks will continue to operate as normal in Russia until expiry dates. Transactions with these cards are processed inside Russia in the National Payment Card System and are not affected by sanctions. Customers’ funds in related card accounts are preserved and available in full.

The holders of these cards will be able to carry out transactions in ATMs and make payments with these cards and card-to-card transfers.

However, cross-border transactions with MasterCard and Visa cards will be unavailable, including for both purchases in foreign online stores and transactions abroad. In the case of foreign trips, it is recommended to have cash and Mir cards for the countries accepting the latter. Currently, these are Turkey, Vietnam, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia, and Abkhazia.
