Monitoring sectoral financial flows: economic activity growth speeds up in late 2021

Data on sectoral payments suggest a pickup in economic activity growth in 2021 Q4. December saw an acceleration of this trend: at the end of the month, all consolidated sectoral groups registered an increase in the growth rate of incoming payments as compared with both Q3 and October—November.
At the same time, sustainable supply-side constraints in many industries continue to exert a restraining effect on business activity which may intensify in early 2022 amid the ongoing difficult epidemic situation.
