How to understand financial institutions’ ownership structure: regulator’s guide
Schemes presenting financial institutions’ ownership structures contain information on beneficiaries which is highly requested. However, these schemes are often multi-level and complicated and are not always easy-to-understand for the general public. For this reason, the Bank of Russia has prepared a guide that will help any readers concerned to grasp this information on their own.
The guide will be useful to both individuals — potential customers, e.g. those choosing a bank or a pension fund, and financial institutions establishing correspondent relations with each other and planning any other types of cooperation. Besides, financial institutions might use this guide as a basis for drafting their own documents.
The information on the owners and persons controlling or materially influencing credit institutions, non-governmental pension funds, insurers, management companies, and microfinance companies is disclosed and regularly updated by the said organisations.
