Bank of Russia-commissioned film wins international festival prize

‘Signatures on the Soviet Chervonets’, a historical documentary, has landed a prize at the Festival of Audiovisual International Multimedia Patrimony – F@IMP 2.0. The film entered the contest in the documentary feature nomination.
The production was commissioned by the Bank of Russia, which also acted as story consultant. The film gives an account of the Soviet chervonets banknotes introduced as legal tender from 1922-1924 and narrates the story of the State Bank governors whose signatures were reproduced on the featured banknotes. This is the first time a Bank of Russia-commissioned film has taken part in an international contest.
F@IMP 2.0 is an annual event organised by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The contestants included the best innovative productions created or initiated by public or private museums, historical societies and outreach centres in Europe, Asia and America. This year, 34 participants from ten countries entered the competition in different nominations. Russia was represented by the Moscow Kremlin museums, the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Tsarskoye Selo and Rostov Kremlin State Museum Reserves. The most famous contestants included, among others, the Gala-Salvador Dali Foundation, the Museum of the Bible, the Ethnographic Museum of Geneva and the Bank of Brazil's Cultural Centres.
