Obverse
in the centre - the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it - the semicircular inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed bу а circle of dots and inscriptions, above - the denomination: "ДЕСЯТЬ ТЫСЯЧ РУБЛЕЙ" (TEN THOUSAND RUBLES), below: to the left - indications of the precious metal, its fineness and the mint trade mark, in the centre – the уеаr of issue "2004 г." (2004), to the right - the fine metal content and the ordinal number sign of the coin №___.
Reverse
in the centre, оn the falsework – the figure of the icon-painter with the paintbrush during the work on the fresco "The Trinity", to the left and to the right – figures of Stolpniki (saints among reverends chosenspecial kind of the deed – standing on a column {Russian – "Stolp"} for deepen praying), at the top – the stylized image of the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Saviour on Ilyin Street in the city of Novgorod. The inscription at the bottom: "ФЕОФАН ГРЕК" (THEOPHANES THE GREEK).

The frescos in the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Saviouron Ilyin Street in the city of Novgorod are the first work of Theophanes the Greek in the old Russia. The icon-painter worked on them in the summer of 1378 to order of Vassily Danilovich, Russian Boyar, and citizens residing on Ilyin Street.
