Obverse

Reverse
a relief image of the nuclear icebreaker Sibir and ice ridges against the background of an image of the aurora borealis in the form of wavy iridescent lines with the effect of light interference, and the relief inscription ‘АТОМНЫЙ ЛЕДОКОЛЬНЫЙ ФЛОТ’ (NUCLEAR ICEBREAKER FLEET) at the bottom, around the circumference.

The keel of the first Russian universal nuclear icebreaker Sibir (Project 22220) was laid down on 26 May 2015. The icebreaker was launched on 22 September 2017.
General characteristics of the Project 22220 Sibir icebreaker are as follows: overall length – 173.3 metres; overall beam – 34 metres; height to upper deck – 15.2 metres; power – 60 megawatts (on propeller shafts); operational speed – 22 knots (open water); designated service life – 40 years; and crew – 54 people.
Currently, three Project 22220 nuclear icebreakers, namely Arktika, Sibir and Ural, successfully operate on the Northern Sea Route (NSR). These modern vessels are key drivers of the sustainable development of navigation in high-latitude regions. Project 22220 nuclear icebreakers will be instrumental in facilitating year-round navigation in the eastern sector of the NSR water area.
