Obverse
in the centre - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom -the year of issue "2002", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
in the centre - the Dionissy's icon "The Crucifix" (painted in 1500) from the Trinity Cathedral of the PauI-Obnorsky Monastery situated close by the town Vologda (kept today in the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow). To the left and to the right from the icon - miniatures of the XVIth century from the "Personal Annalistic Code": "The Stay in Military Opposition on the Ugra River in the Time of Ioann III" and "The Campaign of Ioann III against Novgorod", the inscription at the bottom - "ДИОНИСИЙ" (DIONISSY).

Dionissy the Wise (1440-1502/1503) - a famous ancient Russian painter and an outstanding representative of the Moscow painting school. His iconostasis and wall-painting decorated the Cathedral of the Assumption in the Moscow Kremlin, the Monastery of the Christ' Ascension (Moscow), St. Joseph Volokolamsky, St. Pafnuty monasteries (near Moscow). thе Cathedral of the St. Virgin Nativity of the St. Ferapont Monastery situated in the northern part of Russia is well known in the world thanks to the Dionissy's wall - paintings preserved in the cathedral. The cathedral was decorated with wall-paintings by Dionissy and his two sons Vladimir and Feodossy during 34 days from August 6 till September 8, 1502. In 1989 the St. Ferapont Monastery painted by Dionissy's frescos was registered by UNESCO as the monument protected by the State.
