The sable, an extremely quick animal with exquisite fur, lives in coniferous forests from the north of the Ural mountains to the Pacific ocean. Russians have hunted the sable, highly valued for its fur, since olden times and the animal is represented in the coat of arms of the old Russian cities of Irkutsk, Yakutsk and Verkhoturye.
