Obverse

in the centre - the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it - the semicircular inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim - on top: "ДВА РУБЛЯ" (TWO RUBLES), below: to the left - indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre - the year of issue "2008 г." (2008), to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

Reverse

to the left - the portrait of D.F. Oistrakh with violin in the hands, above on the mirror surface - the facsimile signature if the violinist in two lines "ДАВИД ОЙСТРАХ" (DAVID OISTRAKH) and dates "1908-1974".

David Fyodorovich Oistrakh (1908-1974) - the outstanding violinist, one of the creators of the home violin school, laureate of many international violin competitions, honored member of foreign musician academies. D.F. Oistrakh was the very first interpreter of violin concerts and sonatas devoted to him by D.D. Shostakovich, S.S. Prokofyev, A.I. Khachaturyan, N.Ya. Myaskovsky and. others.
